2. Seismo-Quake® Quake Control is the second electronic kit in the Seismo-Quake® range of educational electronic kits.
|
| What is the Seismo-Quake® Quake Control ? |
Change the quake magnitude of the Seismo-Quake® Quake Generator ! Make use of a variable resistor mounted on a pre-assembled PCB and control the shake of the Seismo-Quake® Quake Generator by adjusting the variable resistor. Hook up a small 9 Volt (or PP3) battery and alter the Seismo-Quake® earthquake from a tremble to a shake ! Let your Seismo-Quake® neighbourhood shake !
|
| Architecture |
Seismo-Quake® Quake Control consist of a pre-assembled printed circuit board (PCB) with the following main electronic components, a surface mounted (SMD) 741 operational amplifier (op amp) implemented as an inverting amplifier with negative feedback, a NPN silicon power transistor as a power output amplifier in common-emitter (CE) configuration.

|
| Key Features |
Electrically safe to use with no alternating current (AC) mains connections.
Power source is a 9 Volt (or PP3) battery (not included).
Input reverse polarity protection build in.
Ease of assembly with only one small flat pointed screwdriver (not included).
Increase and decrease the speed of a direct current (DC) electric motor.
Typical load of 9V at 500mA.
Functional operating ambient temperature 0ºC to +60ºC.
741 operating ambient temperature 0ºC to +60ºC.
NPN silicon power transistor operating ambient temperature -55ºC to +140ºC.
|
| Applications |
Seismo-Quake® Quake Control as earthquake magnitude changer for your Seismo-Quake® Quake Generator kit.
Valuable knowledge for education in electronics. Include an operational amplifier (op amp), a transistor, a variable resistor (potentiometer) and a paper booklet.
Additional expansion for model hobbyist.
Speed control for a direct current (DC) electric motor.
Speed interface to a direct current (DC) electric motor and gearbox.
|
| Assembling |
Assembling the Seismo-Quake® Quake Control kit, attach the direct current (DC) electric motor to the connector mounted on the printed circuit board (PCB) marked OUT. Connect the leads of the 9 Volt (or PP3) battery clip to the connector on the printed circuit board (PCB) marked IN. Remember to note the polarity. The red colour coded wire connects to +V and the black colour coded wire connects to GND. Congratulations, you have added the ability to modulate your Seismo-Quake® earthquake !
