|
| What is the Seismo-Quake® Street Light ? |
Distinguish between day and night ! Make use of a light dependant resistor (LDR) mounted on a pre-assembled printed circuit board (PCB) and switch your Seismo-Quake® Street Lights on and off automatically. Hook up a small 9 Volt (or PP3) battery, switch off the room lights and see your Seismo-Quake® Street illuminate without even touching a button ! Let your Seismo-Quake® neighbourhood come alive !
|
| Architecture |
Seismo-Quake® Street Light consist of a pre-assembled printed circuit board (PCB) with the following main electronic components, a surface mounted (SMD) 741 operational amplifier (op amp) implemented as a comparator with positive feedback, a negative coefficient light dependent resistor (LDR) in a voltage divider network configuration, a NPN transistor in cutoff and saturation functioning as a switch and clear white light emitting diodes (LEDs).

|
| Key Features |
Electrically safe to use with no alternating current (AC) mains connections.
Power source is a 9 Volt (or PP3) battery (not included).
Input reverse polarity protection build in.
Ease of assembly with only one small flat pointed screwdriver (not included).
Circuit is 5V 100mA regulated.
Add an external relay with protective diode to switch loads with a higher current rating.
Functional operating ambient temperature 0ºC to +60ºC.
741 operating ambient temperature 0ºC to +60ºC.
NPN transistor operating ambient temperature -55ºC to +140ºC.
|
| Applications |
Seismo-Quake® Street Light as street lights for your Seismo-Quake® neighbourhood.
Valuable knowledge for education in electronics. Include an operational amplifier (op amp), a transistor, a light dependent resistor (LDR), clear white light emitting diodes (LEDs) and a paper booklet.
Additional expansion for train model enthusiasts.
Automatic safe lighting for dollhouses.
Day and night switching circuit for model hobbyist.
|
| Assembling |
Assembling the Seismo-Quake® Street Light kit, attach the clear white light emitting diodes (LEDs) to the 'poles'. Secure the 'poles' to the board. Connect the leads of the clear white light emitting diodes (LEDs) to the connectors mounted on the printed circuit board (PCB). Connect the 9 Volt (or PP3) battery clip to the connector on the printed circuit board (PCB) marked IN. Remember to note the polarity. The red colour coded wire connects to +V and the black colour coded wire connects to GND. Congratulations, you have added street lights to your Seismo-Quake® neighbourhood !
